 The Library and Inova Health System co-sponsored free workshops on how to help children succeed socially, physically and academically. This program is a part of the Library's Health Information Partnership with Inova.
"Now We Are Five"
Each year children enter kindergarten late or unprepared. Thanks to an Inova-funded pilot project "Now We Are Five," the Library has created a program that augmented its traditional Summer Reading Program. This special program, for children entering kindergarten, gifted each child with a Literacy Loot bag that contains a copy of Harry Goes to School, and a comparable book in Spanish; checklists for school readiness; and Library and health information. The Health Department was invited to participate with its puppet program on inoculations - incomplete vaccination records are a major reason for late school enrollments.
Welcome, Baby!
A continuation of the very popular Millennium Baby Books program, this one will provide new and expectant parents with baby books, literature and other parent and child related information. Funding is provided by Inova Health System.
