Design Guidelines
- Submit up to three designs. The submission of a design does not guarantee that it will be selected.
- Each design submitted must include an Art in the Pages Design Submission Form and both the front and back views of the official 8-1/2” X 11” design template. Designs not using the official templates will not be considered.
- Designs may not be derogatory and any use of corporate logos should be done tastefully.
- Design submissions should be true to color.
- Artists may paint and add sculptural elements to the polyurethane open book statues (approximately 4 feet high by 5 feet wide by 3 feet deep).
- Artists may paint and add sculptural elements to the 4 inch tall concrete base. However, there must be enough space left for placement of the sculpture information plaque.
- Personal use of designs selected must be approved by the Fairfax Library Foundation.
- Artists whose designs are selected are required to sign a contract assigning the rights for all designs to the Fairfax Library Foundation.
- Art in the Pages template designs (both front and back views) must be postmarked or delivered by January 18, 2008 to:

Design Selection Process
- All designs must be approved by the Jury assigned by the Fairfax Library Foundation.
- Approved designs will be placed in a Design Book and on this Web site for sponsors to review and select.
- Artists selected will be contacted no later than February 29, 2008.
- Artists selected will be required to sign a contract for payment of a $1,500 stipend.
- Artists selected are welcome to participate in an Art in the Pages Paint-In or use their own studio.
Auction
Statues that are not permanently placed by the sponsors will be auctioned at the end of the display period. The proceeds from the sale of the Art in the Pages statues at the live auction will benefit the Fairfax County Public Library through the Fairfax Library Foundation.
