Fairfax, VA - Joining the Fairfax County Public Library Foundation’s governing board are four newly elected directors. Serving the Fiscal Year 2006 term are Jeffrey M. Armstrong, a financial advisor and advisor coach with American Express Financial Advisors, Inc.; and Alvah Beander a certified personal property appraiser with African Appraisers and vice president of the Library Foundation’s Friends Scholarship Fund advisory group. Carroll C. Markley, chairman and CEO of Millennium Bank; and Mary Myers, vice president of The Campagna Center have been elected for their first three-year term, which commences on July 1, 2005.
Seven directors have been re-elected for a second three-year term including Bobbie J. Denny, director of the Fairfax Public Law Library; Patrick J. Dexter, headquarters community relations advisor for ExxonMobil Corporation and immediate past chair of Fairfax County Public Library Foundation, Inc.; Charles A. Fegan, former trustee for the Fairfax County Public Library; Leah R. Fried, vice president of Fried Companies, Inc.; Gretchen Moss from TC Consulting; J.A. (Jay) Parker, president of Jay Parker & Associates; and Mary V. Zimmerman of Northern Virginia Community College and president of George Mason (Library) Friends.
Newly elected advisory board members include Virginia’s previous secretary of education, The Honorable James W. Dyke, Jr., a partner at McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe, LLP; vice president of business development of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Richard Gonzalez; senior consultant at Wolf, Keens & Company, Laura Lewis Mandeles; and constituent services director for the Office of Rep. Thomas M. Davis, III, Ann E. Rust.
