Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce

William D. Lecos.William D. Lecos (Bill) is the President and CEO of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, a 1,400-member organization of businesses, non-profit groups and government agencies that was founded in 1925.

Before joining the Fairfax County Chamber, Lecos served as the Policy and Finance Director of Citizens for Better Transportation. Citizens for Better Transportation (CBT) is a broad coalition of concerned citizens, civic groups, elected officials, community organizations and business leaders who are concerned about quality of life in Northern Virginia.

Prior to joining CBT, Lecos was the Senior Vice President for Policy of The Greater Washington Board of Trade (GWBOT), a regional chamber of commerce representing over 1,400 members in the Metropolitan area. As Senior Vice President, Bill was responsible for the Board of Trade's Policy operation including: the government relations programs for the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and Federal affairs; five Political Action Committees; the Potomac Conference; the Community Business Partnership; and the Board's major initiatives aimed at sustaining the economic vitality of Greater Washington.
Lecos was formerly the President and CEO of the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), a regional trade association representing over 500 companies which operate some 1800 foodservice establishments in the greater Washington area. He held this position for six years. Prior to joining RAMW Lecos worked for the National Restaurant Association in Washington.


As President of RAMW, Lecos was instrumental in the industry coalition which led the successful effort to build the Washington, DC convention center. The $650 million project broke ground in October 1998 and is the largest municipal building project in the history of Washington, DC. Lecos also served as a founding member of the Greater Washington Hospitality Foundation.


As a volunteer, Lecos served on the Public Affairs Committee of the Board of Trade and in 1995 chaired the Board's Sub-committee on Economic Development. From 1994-97, Bill served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DC Central Kitchen and continues as a Director. He is on the Board of Directors of the Washington Convention and Visitor's Association. He is a 1995 graduate of Leadership Fairfax and a member of the Fairfax County Committee of 100.

Lecos is married and the father of three daughters. They reside in Falls Church section of Fairfax County, VA.
