Sharon Cavileer, who has been a freelance travel and feature writer for 28 years, is the author of Virginia Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities and Other Offbeat Stuff. She has written on such topics as the 75th anniversary of the birth of country music in Bristol, Virginia; the historic tales and trails of northern Virginia; and the Elvis Festival in Tupelo, Mississippi.
