Your Gifts at Work
Your gifts to Fairfax Library Foundation make a substantial impact to those who live, work, and study in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. Through the gifts of generous donors, Fairfax Library Foundation helps fund library programs and services for people of all ages, making the library a valuable resource for our entire community.
Fairfax Library Foundation funds Ready to Read Early Literacy Outreach, which has provided 4,502 story times and has given 38,373 books to 89,026 preschoolers and their caregivers in our community to introduce preschoolers to the joys of reading.
Also fully funded through the Foundation, Changing Lives Through Literature provides first time juvenile offenders an alternative to formal court action, and has helped 510 participants in Fairfax through Foundation support.
Through your charitable donations, the Foundation is pleased to award Scholarships to library employees and volunteers to help to foster the professional development of the Fairfax County Public Library team. The Foundation has awarded 209 scholarships totaling $175,784.79.
Additionally, the Foundation purchases a variety of Books and Materials, including audiobooks, large font books, and eBooks to expand the library’s collection. Fairfax Library Foundation has provided over $410,000 since 2010 to the library for the purchase of books and materials.
Presentations, such as the library’s Summer Reading Program and Fall for the Book’s Fairfax Prize, encourage all age groups to attend library programs. With your contributions, the Foundation has contributed over $600,000 for these valuable presentations.
Your generous gifts have truly allowed the Foundation to make a substantial difference in the past 20 years. From its beginning in 1994, the Foundation’s history has been full of successful fundraisers, great presentations, and a substantial impact on the Fairfax community.
The Foundation extends our heartfelt appreciation to our supporters for their dedication to enhancing their library.
