Library Foundation Receives Gift From A.J. Dwoskin & Associates
Fairfax, VA - Al Dwoskin, founder and CEO of the real estate corporation A.J. Dwoskin and Associates, recently presented a check for $66,998.72 to the Fairfax Library Foundation The gift represents the second year of a 10-year commitment to donate net rental income to the library from space in Alexandria’s Lansdowne Shopping Centre that is estimated to exceed $730,000. This donation will help build the New Century Library Fund endowment for books and materials; community programs; the virtual library plus library science and continued education scholarships. Al and his wife, Claire, are co-chairs of the New Century Library Fund campaign.
“My wife and I are extensive library users,” Dwoskin explains. “My wife worked during high school at the library out in Centreville. We’re big fans of the Fairfax County system and appreciate its importance to our two young children, who are also avid readers.”
In the late 1990s, A.J. Dwoskin & Associates planned a retail complex in the Kingstowne area of Alexandria. As a public “set-aside,” the company offered the Fairfax County Public Library free space for a new branch. The Kingstowne Library, located in the Lansdowne Shopping Centre, opened in June 2000 and celebrates its fifth anniversary this month.
“The Dwoskin family gift is from the heart,” says FCPL Foundation chair Janet Kerr-Tener. “Al and Claire Dwoskin want to ensure that every family in Fairfax County has the opportunity to enjoy the resources our libraries provide. The Dwoskins are a model for us all.”
