J.A. (Jay) Parker
The President of Jay Parker & Associates, an international consulting firm, Mr. Parker has traveled extensively throughout the world including the former Soviet Union, Europe, Africa, Asia, Central and South America. Mr. Parker has had lengthy discussions with many high-level government leaders.
Long active in the civic, professional and cultural life of the nation's capital, Mr. Parker serves as chairman of The Lighthouse Inc., Washington D.C.; past advisory board chairman, The Salvation Army of Washington D.C.; treasurer of the The Salvation Army’s Evangeline Booth College in Atlanta, GA and member, The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board; served on several other college and university boards including Southeastern University, Gallaudet University and James Madison University; he is a former chairman of Davis Memorial Goodwill Industries(Goodwill of Greater Washington); past chairman, Committee of Management, Anthony Bowen Branch YMCA, Washington, D.C.; co-chairman, American African Affairs Association; past chairman, District of Columbia Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve; past president, The Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C.; Past chairman, Advisory Board, Honors Program, James Madison University; former member of the board of directors, The Easter Seals Society of Washington, D.C.; former member, Greater Washington Board of Trade; member, The University Club of Washington, D.C.; Board of Regents, The Fund for American Studies.
During the Reagan administration, Mr. Parker served as a panel member of the White House Regional Fellowships Selection Panel and as chairman of the Transition Team at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He also served as an unpaid consultant to several federal departments and agencies, including The Departments of Defense, State and Health and Human Services.
Mr. Parker is president of The Lincoln Institute for Research and Education, Inc., a non-profit, independent, non-partisan public-policy organization in Washington, D.C. He is editor of its publication, Lincoln Review Letter. Mr. Parker is also president of The Abraham Lincoln Foundation for Public Policy Research.
Mr. Parker, a past board member of Computer Data Systems Inc., is a former life insurance salesman and radio talk show host. He has spoken before numerous civic, business, social and government organizations and has been a guest on many radio and television programs throughout the world.
Mr. Parker was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1936 and graduated from the Philadelphia public schools. He and his wife, Dolores, reside in Great Falls, Virginia. The Parker family's daughters are W. Yvette Parker, a business consultant, and Ashley DeAnne Parker, a human resources professional. Both live in Northern Virginia.
