Guest Services, Inc. Serves Community Through the Library Foundation
Fairfax, VA - On Friday, October 8, the Fairfax Library Foundation (FCPLF) recognized the community service of Fairfax-based Guest Services, Inc. for their ongoing support of the Fairfax County Public Library through Board service, sponsorships and volunteerism.
Guest Services, Inc. underwrote the prestigious VIP Capital Book Award luncheon at the FCPLF's Capital Book Festival: A Celebration of Notable Authors by transforming the Fairfax County Government Center cafeteria into a four-star restaurant for authors, major sponsors and other area VIPS. This gift, valued in excess of $10,000, helped the FCPLF raise more than $170,000, with proceeds going toward the four most critical needs of the Library, books and materials; community programs; the 'Virtual Library'; and the Friends Scholarship Fund.
It's surprising that this private local company, ranked 39th in DC Metro area giving by the Washington Business Journal, continues to generously support education and the arts in our community with such little public recognition," says Roberta Longworth, the Library Foundation's Executive Director. "In appreciation of all that Guest Services contributes to the Library Foundation, I hope to change that."
Guest Services' Vice President of Business Development, Robin Thurman, serves on FCPLF's Board of Directors to help promote private support of the Fairfax County Public Library.
