The two programs – Motheread®/Fatheread® and every Child Ready to Read – provide story-time experiences to preschoolers who can’t come to the library; offer modeling and training for parents and caregivers; and promote awareness of library services. The donations will be used to provide books and other material for preschoolers and their parents or caregivers.

“On behalf of the library foundation, I commend Wal-Mart for giving back to local communities that they serve,” says Roberta Longworth, executive director of the Fairfax Library Foundation “Wal-Mart is strengthening the whole community by supporting children and their parents in this way.”

“Wal-Mart takes pride in contributing to non-profit organizations, whose overall mission is to assist in the community that surrounds them,” said Greg Howerton, store manager at the Alexandria Wal-Mart. “Wal-Mart appreciates the hard work and the continued interest that the Fairfax County Public Library provides to the library’s customers. And together we can continue to make a positive difference for those who live, work and study in Fairfax County.”
