Grand Mart celebrates 2nd anniversary with gift to benefit Annandale library

Library Foundation Executive Director, Roberta Longworth and George Mason Regional Library Assistant Branch Manager, Marilynn Zauner accept Grand Mart check from Korean community representative, Ilryong Moon.Fairfax, VA - On Wednesday, July 6th, MS Grand, Inc., a Korean-owned international market, has donated $2,000 to the Fairfax County Public Library Foundation, Inc. as part of the second anniversary celebration of the Annandale Grand Mart store, located on Little River Turnpike.

Marilynn Zauner, Assistant Branch Manager of George Mason Regional Library in Annandale and Roberta Longworth, Executive Director of the Fairfax County Public Library Foundation accepted the donation presented by Fairfax County Public School Board Vice Chairman and Korean community representative, Ilryong Moon.

“This gift will fund the Korean New Year event at the George Mason Regional Library branch”, says Longworth. “Grand Mart continues to be exceptionally supportive of our community, having contributed $12,000 to benefit our Library system to date. Please join us to celebrate the Korean New Year and thank you for enhancing our Library.”

The George Mason Regional Library plans to use the gift to underwrite a Korean New Year Celebration in 2006. “It is a very popular event and was very much missed when it was not held in 2004 due to lack of funding,” Zauner explains. “The performers are mostly young people and it is considered to be a wonderful family event for all ages in the Annandale community.”

The Fairfax County Public Library offers more than 2,700 books in Korean, one-third of them for children, at the George Mason Regional Library and the Centreville Regional Library, as well as Korean-language periodicals. Korean materials are enjoyed by individuals of Korean heritage as well as those learning about the Korean culture or language.
