Computer Clubhouse Opens at Mott Community Center

Marking the official opening of the Mott Computer Clubhouse are (L to R) Lee Betton, Pat Frankowitz, Elaine McConnell, Dan Gonzalez, Gerry Connolly, Pam Dudley, Jean McNeal, Bobbi Longworth, Vera Fessler and Mrs. Marguerite Mott at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.Fairfax, VA - The Fairfax Library Foundation joined community leaders and partner organizations to celebrate the opening of the third Computer Clubhouse funded by a grant from the Department of Education at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Mott Community Center today.

"The Mott Computer Clubhouse is an example of what can result of a collaborative effort between multiple organizations. This asset to our community will make a difference in the lives of children and adults of all ages and backgrounds," said Bobbi Longworth, executive director of the Fairfax Library Foundation. “This is an exciting day to open the final of three additional computer clubhouses within the County."

These additional computer clubhouses bring the total number of clubhouses to six operating within Fairfax County.

Local officials kicking off the celebration were: The Honorable Gerry Connolly, Chairman, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Elaine McConnell, Supervisor, Springfield District.

The Clubhouses currently serve more than 800 youth, adults, and senior citizens. All of the Clubhouses are centrally located in Fairfax County owned- and operated-buildings and are intended for broad community use.

The Clubhouses are presented as a result of a collaborative partnership between The Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services; Northern Virginia Technology Council; the NVTC Foundation; Fairfax County Public Library; The FCPL Foundation; Fairfax County Public Schools; and, the Computer Clubhouse Network.
