Office Depot Grand Opening Benefits Library

Office Depot Grand Opening.Fairfax, VA - Office Depot celebrated the grand opening of a new store in Vienna on January 6, 2005 with a $500 donation to the Fairfax County Public Library, Inc. The funds are earmarked for the nearby Patrick Henry Library. This is the second such gift; the company donated a similar amount to the Chantilly Regional Library at the grand opening of a new store in that area.

"Office Depot is proud to support Fairfax County Public Library and librarians' efforts in our community," said Mary Wong, director of community relations for Office Depot.

U.S. Representative Tom Davis and Virginia Senator Jeannemarie Devolites Davis joined Office Depot staff for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the company's new location at 8449 Leesburg Pike in Vienna. Roberta Longworth, executive director of Fairfax Library Foundation, and Jean Johnston, manager of Patrick Henry Library, accepted the $500 donation on behalf of the Library.

"The Patrick Henry Library enjoyed more than 300,000 visits from the public last year," Longworth said. "I am thrilled with Office Depot's dedication to this community. Doing good is good business, and I wish the store great success. Welcome to the neighborhood!"

Office Depot joins other community-minded businesses such as Grand Mart, Inc. in giving to the Library Foundation at the celebration of store openings.
